About Us

Foreign languages are the cornerstones of communication in our globalizing world. They are especially indispensable for professional career planning. Together with a daily spoken language, the language of expertise has immense importance in business life.

The School of Foreign Languages at Turkish-German University prepares its students for education in which a foreign language is used as a medium of instruction. By bringing students to a certain proficiency level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the aim of our school is to train students to be able to study and build their career by using a foreign language.

At Turkish-German University, which is a multilingual university, the language of instruction at the undergraduate level is chiefly German. At our university, the German language preparatory classes form the basis for academic success. To manage to do this, in addition to teaching a foreign language by increasing students’ four basic language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, our preparatory department aims to teach students the language and terminology of specialization according to their fields. German courses as a foreign language continue during the undergraduate education according to students’ fields of specialization. Furthermore, another foreign language (English) is taught to students.

German as a foreign language education in prep classes is not limited to course hours. Besides lessons, individual learning is encouraged, and opportunities for internet-supported education are presented to students.

Our school of foreign languages has adhered to the principle of having university graduates who have a good command of German in their fields, who know English as a second foreign language at a level which will meet their needs in daily conversation, and as well as having foreign language knowledge and skills, who have intercultural communication skills and can compete at the international level.
